Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan thanked H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam for their support of the ASEAN Charter process

Viet Nam ratified the ASEAN Charter on 14 March, the fifth ASEAN Member State to do so. His Excellency, H.E. Pham Gia Khiem, Minister of Foreign Affairs, of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam signed the instrument of ratification.

A ceremony to hand over of Viet Nam’s instrument of ratification to the Secretary-General of ASEAN took place at the sidelines of the ASEAN Finance Ministers Meeting in Danang, Viet Nam, on 4 April 2008.

H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs handed over the instrument of ratification to H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, the Secretary-General of ASEAN. H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan thanked the H.E. Pham Binh Minh for Viet Nam's support of the ASEAN Charter process.
