Objective of the Fund:
The ASEAN Cooperation Fund for Disaster Assistance (later referred to as the Fund) was established by ASEAN Secretariat on 8 May 2008 to pool contributions received from friends and partners of ASEAN to be used to alleviate the suffering of the affected population in Myanmar due to the recent Cyclone Nargis.
Source of Contributions:
The Fund is open to all friends and partners of ASEAN, including the following:

ASEAN centres and networks

All entities associated with ASEAN as indicated in ANNEX 2 of the ASEAN Charter (i.e. ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, business organisations associated with ASEAN, ASEAN-ISIS Network, accredited civil society organisations and other stakeholders in ASEAN)

Dialogue Partners of ASEAN

Other NGOs, think tanks and academic institutions, community groups, foundations, business groups, centres of excellence, etc. that have strong interest and goodwill to help the affected population in Myanmar

The Trust Funds Unit (TRU) of the ASEAN Secretariat will acknowledge the receipt of the contribution to the concerned individual/organisation/country.
Terms and Conditions:
The ASEAN Secretariat will not accept cash or in kind contribution.
Donors will not place any conditions on the use of the contributions to the Fund.
The contributions are solely intended for the purpose of alleviating the suffering of the affected population in Myanmar.
Utilisation of the Fund:
The Fund will be used to purchase relief items based on the needs of the affected population in Myanmar. The relief items may include:

Materials for emergency shelters, such water supplies, water purification substance, food, clothing, tents and camp equipment, generators and fuels

Medical supplies and emergency health kits
Closing Date:
The closing date is 23 May 2008.
