Protocol To Amend The Agreement On The ASEAN Food Security Reserve
Bangkok, 22 October 1982



WHEREAS the Governments of the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore and the Kingdom of Thailand had on the 4th day of October 1979 signed the Agreement on the ASEAN Food Security Reserve;

AND WHEREAS in accordance with Article IX (3), the Agreement entered into force on 24th July 1980.

AND WHEREAS under Article IX (5) of the Agreement, amendments may be made to the Agreement;

AND WHEREAS the parties desire to make a certain amendment to the Agreement.


NOW THE PARTIES HAVE THIS PROTOCOL AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

  1. That the Terms of Reference of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board as set out in the Annex to the Agreement be expanded to include the following additional paragraph :

    "To consider periodically ASEAN supply and demand for rice with the view to facilitating subsequent bilateral negotiations on prices and other terms of long term contracts in respect office purchased from Member countries" as the new paragraphs 3 to 7 of the Annex to the Agreement shall be renumbered accordingly as paragraphs 4 to 8.

  2. This Protocol shall come into force on the date on which it shall receive the approval of the Contracting Parties.



IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, being duly authorised thereto by their respective Governments, have signed this Protocol.
