The ASEAN Legal Information Authority (ALIA) has its origin at the 6th ASEAN Senior Law Officials Meeting (ASLOM) and 4th ASEAN Law Ministers Meeting (ALMM) held in Singapore in November 1999 which agreed to nominate national contact points to be the ASEAN Legal Information Authorities who will be responsible for facilitating the exchange of legal information amongst ASEAN Member Countries.
The ALIAs will also be the repository of ASEAN legal information for their respective governments.
