371. The Foreign Minister of Myanmar attended the 28th AMM in Bandar Seri Begawan as a Guest of the Host Government. He attended the 27th AMM in Bangkok in 1994 for the first time in the same capacity.
372. During the 28th AMM, Myanmar acceded to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia and applied for Observer status in ASEAN. Myanmar has also invited the Secretary-General of ASEAN to make an official visit to the country. The Myanmar also requested assistance in training Myanmar's officials at the ASEAN Secretariat and conducting ASEAN and AFTA briefings in Yangon.
