116. The ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASEAN-CCI) is the main channel of communication between ASEAN and the private sector. As of 1995, The ASEAN-CCI was invited to all meetings of SEOM, its Working Group on Industrial Cooperation (WGIC), and also the AEM.

117. Following the AEM-Private Sector Dialogue held during the 27th Meeting of the AEM in Brunei Darussalam in September 1995, a number of restructuring activities have been conducted by the ASEAN-CCI to strengthen its working relationship with ASEAN. The results of these efforts are found in Table 6.

118. The ASEAN-CCI has also drafted a Work Programme for 1996-1997. As agreed at its 50th Council Meeting, the Work Programme would focus on three main areas of cooperation, namely, food and agriculture, capital goods and industrial components, and tourism.
