ASEAN continued to support His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk and the Royal Government of Cambodia in their efforts to establish national unity and political stability, and to rehabilitate and reconstruct their country.
For the first time at the 26th AMM, ASEAN invited the Cambodian Foreign Minister, Prince Norodom Sirivudh, for informal discussions on how ASEAN could assist Cambodia. The assistance is now being provided on a bilateral basis.
ASEAN has also participated actively at meetings of the International Committee on the Reconstruction of Cambodia (ICORC).
As regards Myanmar, ASEAN continues to ad- here to its policy of constructive engagement. ASEAN believes that instead of isolating Myanmar, it would be better for us to keep the channels of communications with Myanmar open and that Myanmar be encouraged to open up itself and more actively take part in regional and inter- national activities. At the 27th AMM in Bangkok in July 1994, Myanmar will be invited as a guest of the host country Thailand.
