US Undersecretary of State visits the ASEAN Secretariat
Jakarta, 10 September 2007

United States Under Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs, Mr. Reuben Jeffery III, visited the ASEAN Secretariat on 10 September 2007. He was briefed on ASEAN’s economic integration efforts and the progress ASEAN has made towards establishing an ASEAN Economic Community by 2015. Mr. Jeffery also received an update from Secretariat officials on the various ASEAN economic cooperation activities which have received support from the United States.

Following the briefings, Mr. Jeffery toured the Secretariat building and paid a visit to the United States-funded Technical Assistance and Training Facility, which is housed at the ASEAN Secretariat.

ASEAN Schools Tour to Stop in Makassar and Ho Chi Minh City

The ASEAN School Tour will be making stops in Makassar, Indonesia, and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, in the month of September 2007.

The ASEAN Schools Tour is one of the commemorative activities held to mark ASEAN’s 40th anniversary in 2007. At each tour stop, officials from the ASEAN Secretariat and the governments of Member Countries will interact with students from the ages of 12 to 16 and engage them through various fun and interactive activities focused on ASEAN.
