SECRETARIAT IN JAKARTA INVITES ASEAN NATIONALS TO APPLY FOR THE POST
OF
SENIOR
OFFICER, PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE
The ASEAN
Secretariat (ASEC) is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the
post of Senior Officer (SO) – Public Affairs Office (PAO), in the
Office of the Secretary-General of ASEAN. The incumbent shall be
responsible for:
-
Assisting in
the formulation and delivery of the messages of ASEAN to the
general public. This includes coordinating activities in the
ASEC communication and publication programmes, sourcing and
maintaining media contacts, drafting media releases, newsletters
and other information materials, arranging media
conferences/media interviews, providing protocol support as
required, coordinating and controlling visits to the ASEC.

Coordinating
day-to-day operations in the unit to ensure effective and
efficient team work.

Managing and
coordinating research and statistics on key economic variables
in ASEAN: defining the framework with other relevant parties
where research and statistics data on ASEAN are required,
providing quality assurance to the results of research and
statistics papers.

Providing
inputs to the Head of PAO on the subordinates’ performance.
The incumbent
shall be required to perform other duties as may be assigned by the
Head of PAO or higher authorities.
The applicant
should possess the following qualifications:
-
Master’s
degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Political
Science, Public Policy, International Relations or other related
areas.

A minimum of
5 to 7 years of working experience with a proven track record
and exposure in dealing with a wide spectrum of media relations,
public information, journalistic and documentation functions,
both in the regional and global context.

At least 2
years of managerial experience in government, private sectors,
international organisation or other related fields.
General
qualifications:

Excellent
command of English, both written and spoken.

Excellent
research and presentation skills.

Excellent
diplomatic skills.

Computer
literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools.

Ability to
multi-task and willingness to perform outside the usual job
scope.

Ability to
travel frequently on assignment and to work long hours.

Ability to
work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
-
Ability to
function effectively independently and as part of a team.
The successful
candidate will be offered a post with six months probation and a
monthly salary commensurate with his/her personal qualifications
starting from USD 2,900. Other benefits and allowances include
housing, medical, education of dependent children, gratuity, and
annual performance bonus. Upon completion of the probationary
period, the candidate will be confirmed for a three-year contract,
inclusive of the six-month probationary period, in the first
instance.
