THE ASEAN SECRETARIAT IN JAKARTA INVITES ASEAN NATIONALS TO APPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING VACANCY

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

 

            The ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the above - stated post. This Assistant Director, under the direction of the Secretary – General of ASEAN, shall supervise the operation of the Finance and Administration Units in the ASEC. In addition, he/she will undertake special and ad-hoc assignments in the broader institutional affairs area, as directed by the Secretary – General of ASEAN.

 

            The applicant should possess the following qualifications:

  • An advanced degree or other equivalent qualifications in Finance, Accounting, and/or Business Administration.

  • A minimum of 8 – 10 years working experience in dealing with a wide spectrum of policies, trends, and issues in financial management, particularly budgeting, finance, procurement and acquisitions, asset management, accounting, and general administration (as administrator).

  • Ability to think out of the box.

  • Good research and presentation skills, especially in preparing and presenting budget estimates to the high authorities.

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

  • Good diplomatic and negotiation skills.

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to perform outside the usual job scope.

  • Ability to travel on assignment and to work long hours.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Ability to function effectively independently and as part of a team.

            The successful candidate will be offered a post with six months probation and a monthly salary commensurate with his/her personal qualifications within the range of US$4,000 to US$5,000. Other benefits and allowances include housing, medical, education of maximum of three dependent children at secondary level and below, annual performance bonus, and gratuity. Upon completion of the probationary period, the candidate will be confirmed for a three-year contract, inclusive of the six-month probationary period, in the first instance.
