TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (TA)

CULTURE AND INFORMATION UNIT

 

 

 

We are looking for bright and self motivated applicants as Technical Assistant (TA) to serve in the Culture and Information Unit of the ASEAN Secretariat.

 

The successful candidate will largely be responsible for supporting the designated consultant in designing and developing the ASEAN Culture and Information Website and will perform daily maintenance of the Website. He/she will write-up the content for the Website and ensure accuracy and clarity of the stories and articles on the Website; will communicate with the relevant officials of ASEAN Member Countries in order to obtain updates/information/photographs for the Website; will develop graphics, logos, set up discussion forums, and other related multimedia content; assess new standards, technologies, and trends, and formulate strategies for enhancing the Website; ensure the Website’s accessibility from a variety of different environments; collaborate with the ASEAN Secretariat Webmaster on the exchange of content and ideas; and assist with the development of various web-based tools. The successful candidate would also be required to carry out additional tasks for the Unit as directed by the supervisor.

 

To be considered, the candidates must possess the following qualities:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems and Technology, Communications, Journalism or a related field.

  • 5 - 7 years web development and experience in writing content in English for websites.

  • Advanced proficiency with HTML, including style sheets, templates, complex tables, frames, and image maps would be an advantage.

  • Must possess working knowledge of basic composition, page layout, art and office/web software packages such as MS Word, Excel, Dreamweaver, Adobe PageMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat (or Free/Open Source Software equivalents).

  • Some experience with Linux/Unix system administration.

  • Some experience with Content Management System (CMS).

  • Proven creativity in graphic design.

General Qualifications

 

  • Good command of written and spoken English and ability to communicate with users.

  •  Able to multi-task and work irregular and long hours.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and experience in working effectively in a multicultural environment.

  • A team-player and self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision, with sound judgment.

  • Able to travel, as and when required.

  • Knowledge of regional cooperation and familiarity with ISO 9001-2000 system and procedures will be an added advantage.

 

Upon the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period, the successful candidate will be confirmed for a one-year contract (inclusive of the probationary period).  The selected candidate will receive an attractive package consisting of basic salary of Rp. 3,500,000, plus a monthly transportation allowance, medical allowance and annual 13th month bonus.
