ASEAN YOUTH CAMP 2003
DESCRIPTION
The ASEAN Youth
Camp is a 12-day interaction activity among 50 young representatives from each
member-country to learn about ASEAN and about one another’s culture and history;
to share experiences, interact with other participants, demonstrate aspects of
their culture, promote and encourage friendship and understanding. Each
delegation will be accompanied by 1 adult cultural educator. The camp will be
the fourth for 2003 since the project started four years ago.

PARTICIPANTS
1 adult cultural
educator & 5 youth representatives of 16-25 year-old outstanding students from
each Member Country
OBJECTIVE
To promote among
youth representatives of ASEAN member countries knowledge and understanding of
ASEAN, to learn from each other’s culture through interactive activities, and to
build up friendship among youth.
THEME
“Culture for
Peace and Development” that is defined as all ASEAN Youths will help bolster
their efforts through arts, cultures and media in promoting a culture of peace,
mutual understanding, cooperation for development and solidarity in the region,
lead to better appreciation and respect of one’s another culture.
CAMP LOGO
It is a
combination of a flying dove holding rice stalks to reflect the adopted theme
which is mentioned on the bird’s right wing the caption “ASEAN YOUTH CAMP” under
the bird and 2003 at the end of its tail.
The meeting have
elaborated the camp handbook whose content is related to the theme and the
“ASEAN-Japan Exchange Year 2003”.
