1. In order that the Government of the Union of Myanmar may
implement the Agreement on the Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT)
Scheme for the ASEAN Free Trade Area, which is an agreement of the ASEAN, the
Ministry of Finance and Revenue has already prescribed the CEPT Product List
and Tariff Reduction Plan which is a basic requirement for the implementation
thereof, by Notification No.(247/97) dated 10th December, 1997.
2. Although the said whole CEPT Package has already been
notified, with the object of enabling the import and export entrepreneurs to
understand clearly the Year 2001 CEPT Package, it is here by notified that the
rates of duty of the CEPT Products of Inclusion List which are covered by the
Harmonized System Codes mentioned in the Annex for the year 2001 have been
reduced from the existing rates to the respective rates shown in the Annex.
3. The provisions contained in this Notification shall take
effect from 1st January of the year 2001.
