Approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and invested by both China National Tourism Administration and the United Nations Development Program, China Tourism Management Institute was established in 1987 and it is now the largest higher learning institution in China specializing in tourism education. It was funded and technically aided in its initial stage by UNDP as the first funded project in China’ tourism industry.
Since the last decade, China Tourism Management Institute has graduated 1300 students with diploma in tourism management program. They held 38 different nationalities and came from 31 provinces and autonomous regions. CTMI has also conducted various training courses for directors of tourism bureau, hotel general managers and departmental managers and has trained and developed over 4000 professional personnel. They came from 300 prefectures and counties and nearly100 hotels. CTMI enjoys the reputation of “Huang Pu Military School” in China’s tourism
Industry.
CTMI adheres to the policy of conducting training courses as its first task and diploma course as the second, making great efforts to train more senior and middle management personnel for the national tourism industry. CTMI will further their cooperation with international schools to articulate its teaching and learning modules with the updated ones in order to follow the developing steps of the global tourism industry.
CTMI has a matured professional team of teaching staff rich in teaching experiences. 100% of them have the qualification of bachelor. Among them, 50% have master or doctoral degrees. 70% have the senior professional titles of assistant professors or/and above. 90% have received professional training for over one year in America, Australia or European countries.
There are now 1500 students on campus.
TRAINING/EDUCATION COURSES CONDUCTED IN CTMI
Joint Venture Diploma in Hospitality Management Program between CTMI and BMHS, Australia
It is a two-year full-time diploma course conducted in English on Tianjin campus. The Director of Study from Australia monitors the program. Students should take 44 weeks systematic professional study and one-year industry placement with a qualified assessment by hotels before they are awarded the diploma. After they complete the two-year program they can further their study in international schools to get bachelor degree.

It is a full-time program developing and training front office manager and senior personnel for concierge of national high star hotels with international standard. After 9 months professional study and training, the Les Clefs d’or China Training Base will issue the qualified Certificate of International Concierge Supervisor.
