TECHNICAL
OFFICER (TO) – DISASTER MANAGEMENT (DM)
A Technical
Officer (TO) is a specialist staff member providing technical and
administrative support for the coordination and implementation of
decisions made by the relevant bodies/representative committees of
ASEAN. He/she is required to organise and service meetings, keep
records and manage paper flow, undertake research and project work,
assist in the coordination of activities/programmes across different
sectors/units, and perform protocol and specific duties assigned.
We are currently
seeking a qualified candidate to be assigned to the Environment and
Disaster Management Unit. The TO will assist the Unit in
implementing various activities under the ASEAN Regional Programme
on Disaster Management, including development of operational
procedures for joint disaster relief operations, development of
regional standby arrangements to facilitate cross-border movement of
relief assets, regional simulation exercises on disaster response,
regional training and capacity building programmes, public awareness
and education, in collaboration with the ASEAN Committee on Disaster
Management. The TO will also assist the Unit in operationalising the
ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response, and
help promote cooperation in disaster management among ASEAN Member
States.
General
qualifications
-
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree, preferably a Master’s degree, in the relevant
field
(i.e. developmental studies, public administration, or other
related discipline);
-
Preferably
have relevant experience in disaster management and exposure to
international humanitarian emergency response systems;
-
Able to work
independently as well as in a team in a multicultural
environment;

Excellent
English communications skills (written and oral);
-
Computer
literate and proficient in Microsoft office tools;
-
Knowledge of
regional cooperation and familiarity with ISO 9001-2000 system
and procedures will be an added advantage;

Able to
multi-task and work irregular and long hours; and
-
Able to
travel, as and when required.
Upon the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, the
successful candidate will be confirmed for a 3-year contract.
Selected candidate will receive an attractive package consisting of
basic monthly salary (starting from Rp. 5,000,000.00), monthly
transportation allowance, outpatient medical reimbursement,
hospitalisation insurance, and an annual bonus of a month’s basic
salary.
