THE ASEAN SECRETARIAT IN JAKARTA INVITES ASEAN NATIONALS TO APPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING CAREER POSITION

SENIOR OFFICER – Financial Management

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated finance professional to join our team in Jakarta. The job is multi-faceted and highly challenging. The successful candidate will play a key role in on-going efforts to modernise and streamline financial management at the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC). He/she will deal with a broad array of financial management issues straddling the entire range of the ASEC’s activities.

Job Specifications

  • Supervise and manage financial operations of ASEC, including budgeting, book-keeping and financial reporting, cash flow, relations with agent banks, coordinating and facilitating audits of accounts.

  • Handle fund/asset management and liaison with external fund managers and evaluate their performance with regard to funds placed with them.

  • Coordinate project management and prepare/evaluate project budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with established financial rules and procedures.

  • Manage a team of professional staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least a good Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or relevant business discipline gained from a reputable institution.

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in a multinational organisation, including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Excellent English communications skills (written and spoken).

  • Proficient in using information technology (IT) tools, including familiarity with popular financial information software packages.

  • Able to think out of the box.

  • Able to draft finance operational documents and project proposals.

  • Able to interact effectively with colleagues of different nationalities at all levels.

  • Willing to travel on short notice.

  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

In addition, candidates must exhibit honesty, integrity and a strong sense of team work and fair play due to the nature and demands of the job.

Upon the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, the successful candidate will be confirmed for a 3-year contract, inclusive of the probation. The starting salary is US$2,900 per month. Other benefits include allowances for housing and education of dependent children, reimbursement of medical expenses and annual performance bonuses.
